Earlsdon School Parking

A message from PC Pete McCosker

“One of the concerns that has been brought to our attention from both Hearsall Primary School and Earlsdon Primary School are parents/guardians parking outside the schools on the zigzag markings when dropping off or picking the children up.

Due to this we have ensured that we are at the schools at the specific times as much as possible and then ticketing the offending motorists.

This is a serious offence which can  endanger the safety of adults and children who are attempting to cross the roads outside the schools .

Both schools are working hard with us to make sure that offending motorists are identified and then dealt with by ourselves in the proper way.

This offence carries a £60.00 fine and 3 points on a driving license.

On the days when we cannot be there both schools with ourselves have set up a scheme whereby if vehicles are seen stopping/parking on the zigzags then any adult/parent can go to the school reception and write down the registration number with the date, time and if possible the vehicle make, model and then place it into the box for us to collect asap.

We will then check the registration number/s and send the owner/registered keeper a letter offering guidance on parking in a suitable place and outlining the offence and dangers of this kind of inconsiderate parking. If this continues we will then visit the offender to resolve the matter.

I would like to thank both schools in supporting us with this.”

Burglars Turn To Fishing

In Canley, Cheylesmore on January 29, 2010 at 13:45

This shows how an implement can be used so keep you keys out of reach

Residents of Canley and Cannon Park should be aware that the Neighbourhood Police Team reports of burglary offences that have been committed with a very specific method.

Last Night

A house was entered by burglars. Fortunately they were scared away by the occupant waking and turning on the lights. When the occupant had a look around, they noticed that their keys were in the front door on the outside.

It had been presumed that these keys were lost within the house a few weeks earlier, the householder had thought little more about it.

A Few Weeks Ago

Where it becomes interesting is that we had a report from another resident, not too far away that they had experienced a suspicious incident a few weeks ago. On this occasion the resident had been woken in the middle of the night to the sound of someone messing about with the letter box and heard someone say “I can’t get them”. A short time later the noise stopped and the person(s) making the noise went away.

The logical conclusion is that on this occasion this person was seeing if they could get some house keys through the letter box to let them in, either straight away or at a time that suits them.

I suggest that last night’s incident was as a result of a successful fishing trip a few weeks ago.

So what’s the point of this article?

Well first of all it is very important that suspicious incidents are reported to the Police, which is my first request.

Secondly please don’t leave your house keys in sight of the letter box. It makes life all a bit too easy for the thief.

The vast majority of us work hard for a living.  We aspire to have items like the Apple iPad, computers, cars and the like.  Lets make it hard for the criminal who wants to take the shortcut.  That way they are more likely not to bother or make a mistake.

Response

The local Neighbourhood Team are increasing patrols day and night. Both in uniform and plain clothes.
